Customer Review: Great Vacuum for The Price
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had this vacuum for two months now. Use it on a weekly basis and I am impressed by the amount of dirt it picks up.

If you vacuum quickly then it won't pick up as much dirt but if you go along methodically then you will be amazed by the amount of dirt and hair it will pick up. The suction is awesome!

The whole thing is very light and the plastic can be on the cheaper side but this vacuum is amazingly inexpensive. If you want to purchase something more expensive then go ahead; I've had moderate ($100 plus) to expensive vacuums (almost $500). I felt the price I got for this vacuum ($60, S&H included) was well worth the money and completely did its job.

The suction is so strong it pulls the carpets at times. I can actually see dust, hair balls being sucked towards the vacuum. I believe I can maneuver this machine better than most I've had.

It is a bagless and yes it can get dirty to clean. I have yet to see or even read about a bagless vacuum being easy to clean. For those that complain then they should just get a bagged vacuum. I take out the cartridge and empty the dirt in my garden, hit the filter lightly against a stone and then cover up the dirt with soil and use it to act as fertilizer. I don't ever recommend cleaning a bagless indoors.

I have read all the complaints. I think some ppl should just hire someone to do their vacuum or adjust their expectations. I feel this vacuum is an excellent value and I would buy it again. Since it's only two months I do hope it last me a couple of years.. That's my only concern thus far...

Customer Review: Much Better than Expected
Summary: 5 Stars

This vacuum is really impressive and inexpensive. I was amazed at how much dirt and dust this vacuum pulled out of my carpets that I thought were not that dirty! I also like the separate hose for vacuuming and above floor cleaning. Before, with my other vacuum, if something was stuck in the hose, it was impossible to clean my carpets until that item was freed. Now, with a separate hose for vacuuming, that's no longer an issue. Its a standard vacuum, no bells and whistles, but it does what it suppose to do, get the dirt, dust and other items off the rug or floor. I would highly recommend this vacuum.

Customer Review: Just as good as my brand new DYSON, no joke!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just bought the brand new dyson that came out this year (2009) the dc25 animal. I had no problem with my dirt devil, but with two dogs and a crawling baby, I couldn't help but think, what ISN'T my vacuum picking up? So I bought this $500 vacuum cleaner. I vacuumed my carpet with my dirt devil and then with my dyson, I'm so excited I can't wait! Well what extra did my Dyson pick up? Hardly nothing at all! Maybe an ice cube size of some dog hair! Then I vacuumed a room frequented by my two dogs, I vacuumed one side with the dyson and the other with the dirt devil, then I switched sides! I vacuumed them both the exact same amount and size! Well when I switched them over, which vacuum picked up more from the opposing vacuum's side? THE DIRT DEVIL!!! I am not exaggerating or lying at all. With the DD set on the lowest carpet level, it picks up MORE than my brand new out of the box Dyson. The DD accessories aren't anything to call home about, while the dyson has AMAZING accesories, but are they $500 accessories? I would say no. This dirt devil I've had for 2 years and is still amazing. I would definently reccomend it!

Customer Review: Awesome for the money

UPDATE: We've moved to a house with mostly hard floors - you can't turn the brush off, so just shoots the dirt around on hard floors, bummer.

This vacuum does it's most important function well. It sucks, hard.

Moreso than any other reasonably priced vacuum I've used. The other somewhat positive reviews here cover most of it, I'll just add a few thoughts.

- Heat. Mine only got really hot when I let it run with an obstruction in the hose. Otherwise I've never noticed the heat.

- Cord. Nothing wrong with it, it's long and their is a clip on the handle to keep it out of the way, just like almost every other vacuum I've used.

- Filter. This is the only valid issue in my mind. My solution, dump the contents and filter into the trash bag, leaving room to loosely tie the bag shut. With the bag tied shut, pickup the filter through the bag and bang it on the side of the can for a minute. Let the dust settle before opening the bag.

Otherwise, the casters are great, the height adjustment works fine, I like the foot power switch and the hose attachment doesn't bother me at all. Haven't needed to replace the belt yet. I think I paid $50 for it almost 2 years ago, and I'm perfectly happy with it.

Very pleased.Have two dogs that shed constantly and I could make another dog with the hair. This unit has the suction to take the paint off the walls.I could not be happier. For the money I beleive it was a steal.
